About the German Gross-to-Net Calculator
Enter your gross monthly or annual salary to see your estimated German net pay. The calculator applies the 2025 income tax formula, solidarity surcharge and church tax based on your tax class (Steuerklasse).
Social insurance contributions — health (Krankenversicherung), pension (Rentenversicherung), unemployment (Arbeitslosenversicherung) and long-term care (Pflegeversicherung) — are deducted at current rates. You can adjust the health insurance supplementary rate (Zusatzbeitrag) for your specific insurer.

Frequently asked questions
Which tax year does this use?
The default is 2025. The income tax formula follows the Einkommensteuergesetz (EStG) parameters published by the BMF.
What is the solidarity surcharge?
Since 2021 most employees are exempt. It still applies if your income tax exceeds the Freigrenze (currently €18,130 for singles). The rate is 5.5% of the income tax above the threshold.
Does this work for Steuerklasse IV with factor?
The calculator supports Klassen I–VI. For Klasse IV with Faktor, the combined household calculation is not modelled — use Klasse IV as an approximation.
